Our final stop this summer holiday was Edinburgh!
Richard filmed a video while setting up the ‘van - you can watch it here!
It was cooler than our European trip but with new experiences.
This time, we took our bikes and really enjoyed cycling between Musselburgh and Portobello Beach.
We also went on a boat trip to Bass Rock in North Berwick to see the Gannet colony, which was an amazing spectacle and highly recommended.
The boat was specially stabilised to withstand the rough sea, so none of us were sick – although I felt a little queasy towards the end!
We went to the Gannet colony after taking the kids to see Steve Backshall live – he recommended this as an awesome thing to do, and it certainly was!
The gannets fully cover the rock, and it's incredible to see them billing as it is called - they are very affectionate, loyal creatures. We also saw seals swimming, and earlier on in the year, you can see puffins too.
We were super warm and toasty in the Trouvaille Classique MWB using the gas heater a little and making use of our thermal wraps for the front cab and the pop top also.
Richard was spotted out in the wild in North Berwick by two YouTube fans. Here is the selfie they took!
Sonya went to see an 80-piece orchestra at the Edinburgh playhouse with her sister, which absolutely blew her away. She also saw live music on a rooftop while looking out over Edinburgh.
In fact, we all saw live acts along the Royal Mile and walked around the base of Arthur's Seat, but we didn’t venture up it this time - that's for the next trip!
The kids had such fun digging on Porty Beach, playing on the slot machines and eating their favourite fish and chips ever at the Shrimp Shack.
We are always sad to leave but so happy we got to see our family.
The trip was to see family and they don't have room for us to stay, and with accommodation during the Fringe being so expensive, having the campervan is invaluable!
Having the ‘van makes meeting up so much easier, and when they come to stay with us, my sister stays in the campervan on the drive, using it as an extra bedroom!
We stayed at Drummohr camp site. It was a lovely base with hot showers and a playpark for the kids right next to our pitch. We were also able to book fairly late in the day in July for an August trip.
The campsite was very well located on a cycle track along the coast called the John Muir Way and also for catching the bus to the centre or the train. I could get to my sister's house quickly, and the kids were reunited with their cousins! Happy days!
Want to take the Trouvaille Classique MWB for a test drive for yourself?
Pop in and give our ‘vans a go yourself with either a test drive or by hiring it for a longer trial experience. We even offer Saturday bookings now!
