Our first trip away this year was a kid-free weekend for a friend’s party!
Keep reading to hear about our adventures up in the rather chilly Yorkshire Dales in the Trouvaille Classique MWB.

At the end of January, we headed up to Arkengarthdale in the Dales to stay with some friends who have bought an old school.
It’s actually really cool – they're renovating it into a luxury retreat. And we were one of the first lucky people to go and stay there at ‘The Retreat’, in fact! A group of us went up for our friend's birthday and had a disco in the school hall and tried out the juke box!

We were so grateful to be able to go and enjoy the party without paying the high prices in the hotel across the road – all thanks to our 'van!
We parked for free in their car park - or school yard as it still looks like (above)!
We didn't have much time to pack, but we were able to just chuck everything in and off we went. We could bring whatever we needed – and our kitchen even came in handy after a couple of smashed wine glasses at the party meant we could offer up our spares from the ‘van!
While there, we went to a famous pub nearby called the Tan Hill Inn (where you can actually stay in your 'van for £10 a night with proceeds going to Mountain Rescue).
They serve hearty dinners (as seen in the photo above) with a famous giant Yorkshire pudding!
Now, let's be honest – the Yorkshire Dales in January were blooming freezing (Sheffield was warm in comparison)!
It felt like a lunarscape up there - a very open landscape with no wind break at all. It really was a battle against the elements.
But this gave us a real proper test of the 'van and how much it can cope with.
We left our heater on, put the thermal front cab blind on, and with a nice warm duvet, we were really lovely and cosy in the van!
It was wonderful to have the option to go to a party and stay over without on-site accommodation - all for free.
And we could put the kettle on in the morning without waking everyone up before joining our friends for a fry-up brekkie.
Once again, we're reminded just how handy and great having a campervan is! You can have your home-from-home comforts all while parked up on someone's drive!
