Brrr, it’s getting chillier! Now winter’s almost here, it’s time to get your campervan ready for the winter season. Campervanning isn’t just for summer - we love going away in our ‘vans year-round. It’s easy to stay toasty in an Orange Campers ‘van all our Trouvailles come with heaters pre-installed.
But what do you need to do to ensure your ‘van stays warm, cosy and safe during the cooler months?
Read on to find out…
Habitation checks
The best place to start for getting your van ready for winter is with a habitation check. These checks will iron out any weaknesses in your ‘van, and we will give it a thorough look over.
This involves re-undersealing the gas tank, checking all the bracket work underneath, and recoating anything that needs it to keep it all rust-free. This helps keep on top of any rust problems, as it’s better to prevent them than try to cure them after the event!
And the checks continue throughout the entire ‘van to make sure it’s all working great – inside and out. This prevents any serious issues by spotting and fixing anything before it gets out of hand.
Watch Richard as he talks through the many seasonal extras we can install for you in your campervan.
External thermal wrap
An external thermal wrap is a really great extra that’s worth considering, even if you have Remis cab blinds installed like we do in the MWB.
Your thermal wraps go around the front windows over winter to stop any condensation from building up. And it saves a lot of time, too – you’re ready to drive away in seconds as soon as you take it off!
The wrap really helps with heat loss, and you can also have one installed on your pop-top roof to stop the heat from leaving out the top of the ‘van. This keeps your roof bed nice and toasty year-round and makes it much quieter too.
Wifi antenna
We also offer Wi-Fi upgrades so you can be fully connected wherever and whenever you travel.
Our Wi-Fi booster enhancer has about a five times stronger signal than a mobile phone.
Plus, you can unclip it, carry it in your pocket, and use it everywhere, like a mobile router. So it's very useful, especially if you've got all the family trying to connect at once.
Heated seats
Heated seats are one of our favourite extras! With a seat you don't have to rush to put the heating on in the ‘van,
Hot water
We have an outside shower in our ‘vans which is handy for rinsing off your muddy boots at the end of an adventure! We also have hot water available as an optional extra, for a more comfortable stay away from home.
Thermal mattress toppers
Mattress toppers are amazing nowadays – and you can get heated ones, too! Definitely worth getting for a low-cost little heat boost!
Radio upgrade
The Peugeots or Fiats have a five-inch radio, but we also offer an upgrade to a nine-inch one for an even better stereo system. An extra pair of speakers can be included in the back, and it lets you use Android Auto, too.
For the winter, a nice upgrade is to wire the radio to your rear leisure batteries so you can have it on more while you spend more time inside your van.
Diesel heating
All our Trouvaille campervans have heating included as standard. The gas-blown air heaters warm up the ‘van nicely and keep you warm and toasty even at sub-zero temperatures.
There is also the option for diesel heating, which means you can have the heating on while you're driving.
We’re all about the little details that make for a better ‘van experience
While heating and insulation are already installed in your ‘vans before you drive away from the unit, it’s the small things that make the difference in the winter.
We make sure that your fresh and waste water tanks are insulated and offer the option of larger solar panels to help pull as much energy as possible out of the weaker winter sun.
