Our Trouvaille Classique Medium Wheelbase option 2 ‘van is now available with a factory high top, standing at 2.64 metres – and that includes all the extras on top as well!
This new ‘van comes in two colours – Artense Grey or Iron Grey. And can come as either a Manual (£79,999) or Automatic (£82,999 incl. VAT).
This Fiat Ducato ‘van, which is a factory high top, is actually rare, so we are lucky to be able to order them as our new bases (although we only have a limited amount, so if you’re keen, do sign up to the waiting list sooner rather than later!).
Full height door and electric step
One of the main features of building on the high top is you get a full height door. It goes all the way up to the roof line, giving it a clean look and easier access.
We can install a fly screen on these doors too, which keeps all the insects out in summer and if you want to have your doors open at night time.
We also have an electric step installed, with the option for an even bigger 700-wide step if you want that extra safe, wider step.
Extra height inside, too
Inside, the bed layout is identical to our option 2 pop-top MWB ‘van. We have our two single beds which can be pushed together to form a double.
We have the pop-up table and all the other little features that you’d normally see in our Trouvaille Classique.
The big difference, of course, is the extra height! There is 6 foot 3 inches of head height, so for the majority of people, that means you can stand up and walk freely around the ‘van.
More storage
With the extra height, we’re able to add even more storage!
We have an extra shelf above the side window and three generous-sized separated top cupboards with doors that open sideways (rather than ‘up’ like in the pop top).
There’s also an overhead locker, which is great for bedding. You can attach a cargo net up there, or we can put a door on it if you’d like. We’ve kept it open as we like the easy access.
There’s a great place to put a TV on a tilting bracket as well, so you can spin it around and watch from the kitchen or from the front seats.
You also get a higher wardrobe than in the pop top version so even more bang for your buck. The door is designed so you can open it fully even if the bed’s set up, which makes access nice and easy. Everything is at the right height – no crouching down to get to your clothes! There’s a hanging rail in there and a removable shelf, using the space all the way to the ceiling.
The pocket hole spaces are handy – there’s even a place to put bottles (whether that’s wine or cooking oil is up to you!) when you’ve set up.
We believe that a campervan is only as good as its storage! Many ‘vans we see at shows look incredible – but they’re empty. It’s only when you start loading a van up with all the essential gear that our ‘van comes into its own.
Open and light
Another great benefit to the high roof version of the MWB is how nice and light it is inside. In the centre we have a beautiful big skylight, and a smaller one to the rear.
It has a blind and fly net, so you can comfortably leave it open for more fresh air and light inside. It has different settings; for example, you can lock it in place if you’re going out for the day but still let some air in.
Beautiful galley kitchen
The high roof feels nice and spacious all the way to the back of the ‘van – even for a ‘short’ ‘van at 5.4 metres. There’s plenty of room to move about in the kitchen, with some elbow room to get past each other as you move about.
The kitchen features haven’t changed. We have the oven grill which is an extra, a big sink with hose tap, triple burner gas hob and lots of cupboards and drawers underneath. And don’t forget all the storage under the seats as well!
The big change back here is all the extra cupboards above! We have four big cupboards up above, with doors that open nice and wide out the way.
They have split-level shelves in the centre with a lip on so things won’t fall out.
We’ve made sure these will fit a full-size dinner plate, and there’s plenty of room to put racks or anything custom inside to make it your own.
The fridge is nice and high level - making use of the high roof! You can open the door all the way around now, too, so you can open it from many angles. We have a freezer compartment inside. We have changed our fridge manufacturer to be of a higher quality, and we think it’s as good as a fridge can be!
Above the fridge is a nice big cupboard. At the back of the 'van there is room for the table to slide away for easy access from the rear when the doors are open as well as when shut.
At the very back is room for your chairs, camping table, whatever you fancy as there is so much more height available now, in the high roof.
We have a utility cupboard too, for all the little bits and bobs like chemicals, pegs, your hookup lead, etc, all fit in there nicely and safely. Plus we have 2 very useful coat hooks.
And, of course, the fire extinguisher where you need it – in the kitchen!
Electric toilet
It’s really easy to get in and out of the toilet – you don't have to move around to get past the door, as we have a little bifold door that just comes straight past you.
If you want some privacy, you can lock it too.
If you’re like Richard, he likes to have the bathroom door open and use it as an additional workspace. There’s two extra-height cupboards in there and a drop-down shelf. You can sit there on the drop down shelf and wait for your dinner to cook!
The toilet itself is a full sit-down Thetford electric flush toilet. It offers you a very similar loo experience as you get at home and is sturdier than a portable toilet with a deeper bowl. It functions similarly with a lever at the front to seal against any smells and has a button to flush (there is the option of a pump flush if you prefer).
The bowl actually spins, so you can turn it if you need more space. Very handy!
