THOUGHTS FROM THE WORKSHOP

Meet the crew: Our campervan conversion team

Each and every one of our Trouvaille campervans are carefully put together with attention to detail and quality craftsmanship by our fantastic Orange Campers team... so we thought it was high time we introduced you to the important people that make things happen down at the workshop!

You've met our directors Richard and Sonya before - in this blog here. So we'll just tell you a little bit about them and then introduce you to the rest of the team.

Richard Tomlin

Richard is our managing director with over 20 years experience building and designing campervans. Although he's too modest to shout about this himself, we'll have you know that he's well respected in the campervan industry as a knowledgeable professional conversion specialist.

Richard is the face of the business, the guy you'll meet on our YouTube channel and in our social media, and he likes to be hands on chatting to customers, keeping the van builds on target, and ensuring that the quality is consistent throughout the range.

When he's not campervanning and exploring new campsites with Sonya and their boys, Rich enjoys a round of golf, especially with his daughter Jess who we'll introduce you to in just a sec.

Sonya Tomlin

Sonya is Richard's wife, and is the organisational glue that attempts to hold all of the inner workings of our small business together!

With a background in teaching, Sonya gave up her job teaching languages to secondary school students to come on board full time as a Director at Orange Campers, where she now oversees scheduling, van procurement, staffing, sales, marketing, finance and show organisation.

With all those balls in the air - plus two young boys in the mix - it's no surprise that Sonya's favourite place to be when she can find the time is enjoying a calming swim at Hathersage outdoor lido - she just loves being in the water.

Jessica Tomlin

Orange Campers simply wouldn't run the way it does without the help of lovely Jess, Richard's daughter, and (obviously!) a campervan enthusiast too.

Jess works in a variety of roles including materials procurement, general admin, customer support, marketing support, show organisation and sales.

When she's not living the campervan life, Jess is a keen golfer, and even lets her dad tag along sometimes ;)

Let's move on to the team who make all that van conversion magic happen down in the factory every day...

Jordan Edge is a highly competent campervan builder and a natural leader who heads up our build team along with John below.

Jordan's no-nonsense approach to his work keeps us all on our toes - he's always looking for the next task and making sure to keep moving projects along.

And as a gym enthusiast, he's the least likely of us all to lose in an arm-wrestle!

John Burkinshaw has many years of experience building for large motorhome company Swift Group. His bench joinery skills are a huge asset to our team, and his extensive knowledge is invaluable when it comes to the research and design of new build projects.

After handcrafting our van interiors to the highest quality in our workshop, John loves to unwind by working in his garden, especially on a long summer evening when the sun shines over Sheffield!

We also have two newer team members who make up the build team:

Andy Morris is shaping up to be a very proficient van builder, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to his craft.

He's currently in his 3rd year of Joinery at college, and he's made excellent progress in his joinery and other van building skills since joining the Orange team.

He likes to tell us that his claim to fame is going to school with Craig David, though we're not sure if that means he's a fan or not!

Mark Whinfrey is the newest member of the Orange team, and had already built his own VW campervan before arriving at Orange.

His love of campervans really shows in his work, but it's not just the interiors he's keen on - Mark's drifting hobby means he's always got an eye on speed and performance too.

Now that you've met the in-house team, we'll introduce ourselves too... This blog article was written by Lee McQueen our marketing consultant, and designed by our design consultant Alicia Wainwright.

We hope you've enjoyed getting to know our team a little bit better. We consider ourselves to be a friendly bunch who get just as excited as our customers do about bringing your dream campervan to life!

If you're ever visiting us in our Rotherham workshop, do come and say hi to us all - we always love meeting new people, and of course we'll take any opportunity to talk to someone new about our favourite subject - campervans!
